WELCOME!

Nancy’s intention through bodywork sessions is to assist you with releasing unhealthy tensions held within the connective tissue, whether they are a result of trauma, repetitive or emotional stress, or simply a build up from your every day living.

What is Structural Integration Bodywork?

Structural Integration is a bodywork technique which involves working with the fascia to improve posture and general health. This technique was developed by Ida Rolf in the mid-20th century. The idea behind structural integration is that as the connective tissues of the body contract and the body ages, posture declines, becoming uneven and imbalanced; by realigning the body, the practitioner hopes to address health problems which can range from muscle pain to depression. Nancy incorporates the Anatomy Trains mapping into her bodywork sessions. A series of 10 sessions is recommended. more info

What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic Massage is amanual manipulation of the body's soft tissue for the purpose of stimulating circulation and promoting relaxation. It has been used in many world cultures for more than 4,000 years. Massage allows you a quiet time to focus on yourself and become more connected to your body. Massage is generally used for the reductionof stress and pain. It has been shown to boost the immune system as well. Since most diseases are exacerbated by stress, massage can help you become and stay healthier.

Benefits of Massage:

  • Improves range of motion and decreases discomfort for patients with low-back pain.
  • Increases circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. Increased circulation of blood and lymph systems also improves the condition of the body's largest organ...the skin.
  • Increases joint flexibility.
  • Provides exercise and stretching for atrophied muscles and reduces shortening of the muscles for those with restricted range of motion.
  • Reduces post surgery adhesions and edema (swelling) and can be used to reduce and realign scar tissue after healing has occurred.
  • Reduces recovery time, helps prepare for strenuous workouts, and eliminates subsequent pains of the athlete at any level.
  • Reduces spasms and cramping.
  • Relaxes and softens injured and overused muscles.
  • Releases endorphins -- the body's natural painkiller and isused for chronic illness, injury, and recovery from surgery to control and relieve pain.
